As the ice coated the trees they would snap and break. Sounded like shot guns going off at night.

The clothes line froze the rug that was hanging out to dry. Just the day before the sun had been out. So no more laundry went out on the line.

So we did lose one tree in the picnic area. The birds were fed every day.

When the sun came out it was amazing. Like crystal everywhere. Just beautiful.

Down lines so no power

Down lines so no power

We were without power for 6 days. We did have propane heat. The cabins filled up.  The guests were wonderful and everyone helped each other out. My freezer had defrosted so we had all the grills fired up and had a steak dinner for everyone.  Even during a disaster people find reasons to laugh and care for their neighbors.

God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today.
Have you used one to say ‘thank you’?
When you sit down to a meal, do you take a moment to appreciate it? Or is it something that is taken for granted? There are many in the world that will not have a meal tonight, or the next night, or the night after that. Appreciate your meal.

Appreciate the life that was given by the plants and the animals so that you could have that meal. Appreciate the work that was done by the growers, the pickers, the truckers, the stores, and those who prepare your food so that you could have that meal.

If you have good health, appreciate that. If you have pain, appreciate that. Appreciate your ability to feel, to see, to hear, and to draw breath. There are many that cannot do even that…

During the ice storm, did you look in awe at the beauty of the ice in the trees? How everything looked crystal and bright?

It is truly beautiful, as is most natural disasters in some incredible way. I have often wondered why I find such beauty in fire, ice storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, volcanoes, etc. ,,,and I have come to the conclusions that in destruction is rebirth and new life that springs forth very quickly. That is why I think God made us able to see the beauty in the act of the destruction itself.

During the storm did you give thanks that your family and friends were safe?
When the power was off, did a deck of cards come out and the family play cards together?
Did you talk to each other by candlelight or flashlights?
After the ice storm and the loss of power have you waved and said thanks to the power workers.

Take a last look around and see how everything there is was made possible in so many ways by so many people around the world. There already is a global economy and no part exists in isolation from the others. You already are part of a global society, and what happens in one part of the world affects every other part.

There is no movement made, no breath drawn, anywhere in the world that does not affect every other part in the world, whether you are aware of it or not.
God works in mysterious ways indeed!!!!

Appreciate your connection to everything else. It is there. You can feel it. FEEL it!
Don’t think about it so much. Feel it.
Feel how you are part of the intricate web of life, of the flow of life and even of death.

I wonder if you have any concept of just how much you give to this world. I can’t stress enough  how very important YOU are to me and everybody that you touch.

If you are not taking care of yourself you are not taking care of one of the most valuable things in many peoples lives.
So, please take the time to take care of a friend that is so important to so many lives,,,, YOU!!!!!!

Appreciate these days and appreciate all that you are in these days, for you are changing, too… Be in an “attitude of gratitude” and you will feel yourself blessed beyond counting.

The average person living to age 70 has 613, 000 hours of life.
This is too long a period not to have fun and give Thanks.
